Laughlin Nevada, 2007

Laughlin Nevada, A small version of Las Vegas with equally sized hotels and casino's.

Ramada Express, Hotel & Gambling Casino

Crew members of the LST 1122, at evening Banquet.

The Ladies of the LST 1122 crew

The Ladies of the crew are having as much fun as the crew members.

Night life in Laughlin

The night life in Laughlin was equal to that of Las VegasSmile

The daytime activities were even better than Las VegasCool

The Ramada Express, hotel and Casino

Don Johnson, with help from his family, got our Veterans group an outstanding price. $23.98 per night.  The Ramada Express was equal to any hotel in this area.  The food was very good but over-priced in some places. The Buffet was very good and moderately priced. Airfare into Las Vegas was priced high and rental cars for 5 days was $180.  The hotel price made up for many of the other high priced items.

Boat trip to London bridge

Don Johnson Scheduled this entire jetboat for our group. The trip was 60 miles down the Colorado river to Havasu City where the London bridge was re-assembled.  Traveling down the Colorado we passed through canyons with very steep walls. The boat Captain stopped many times for those with cameras. A very scenic trip.

The London bridge at Havasu City

The London Bridge is a spectacular site. We had lunch at a Mexican restaurant. Then had time for some shopping at the many shops. The Captain pointed the jetboat north to go back to Laughlin and opened the throttle. The trip back to Laughlin was much shorter.

Big Horn Sheep

The Bog Horn Sheep on a mountain cliff above are hard to see. Only 3 white dots can be seen in this photo, but sitting in the boat they were plainly visible. My camera needed a telephoto lens. Maybe someone in our group got a better picture.

Oatman Arizona, A ghost town turned tourist trap

Oatman Arizona was about 15 miles south and 15 miles east of Laughlin. We caravaned there to find old wooden buildings that would be condemned anywhere else, filled with shops full of Indian Jewelery and other tourist stuff. The highlight of the town was a great old cafe that made an outstanding Burger.  The shops sold bags of carrots for the Burro's that roamed the streets looking for hand-outs.

Gunfights in the streets

A sheriff tries to abort a robbery in progress, but gets gunned down for his efforts.  Local men put on old-west show for tourists in town.  The guns were loud and the smoke made for a real old fashion gun fight. The cameras were clicking and all of us had a good time.

Jetski's for rent & boat trips available

Back at Laughlin, the gambling continues for some while others went from casino to casino looking for the best shops. I would say Laughlin was a huge success as a place to have our reunion. I would like to see our reunion return here someday.
